Okay, I am highly sick of hearing about Coronavirus, isolation, self-quarantine, panic buying etc. Of course, the virus is really serious but working retail I’ve had corona small talk 9 hours a day, every day. However, now my shop has shut for 4 weeks minimum, I thought I’d put together a list of things I’m going to be doing whilst I’m in self-isolation. Maybe this will give other people some inspiration if you’re losing the will to live.
Pick Up Your Camera
If you’re a blogger or a photographer then picking up your camera probably seems like the obvious thing to do in isolation. Endless time to go to your garden and snap up some pictures. I rarely get time to leisurely take pictures soo now I’ve got plenty of time on my hands I can snap away. Considering it’s only just turned spring, there’s not a lot of flowers in bloom but there’s still plenty of opportunities. Take pictures of your dogs, the sky, anything. On my first day of isolation, I made the most of the lovely weather and took some pictures in the garden and some flowers from mothers day!
Learn A New Skill
Leading on from photography, I’m going to try to learn a new skill. A while ago I bought a light prism (I think that’s what they’re called). It’s basically a glass prism which you can use to reflect light and make cool, trippy pictures with. Think rainbow streaks. I’m going to keep practising different ways to use it! But if you wanted to learn a new skill that wasn’t to do with photography, things like knitting can actually be really therapeutic or learn a new language on an app!
Try Out New Products
Obviously now most shops are closed you can’t go out to have a look down the makeup aisles in Superdrug but most online retailers are still shipping! I was gifted Dermalogica’s new Invisible Physical Defense! I am lucky enough to be sent new releases form Dermalogica and they never, ever disappoint. This SPF is perfect now that it’s becoming more sunny and even better that it’s invisible, unlike most SPF which sometimes leaves white streaks when not rubbed in properly.
I’ve never really thought to wear SPF on a daily basis but it is really good to protect your skin so I’ve been using this in the morning before I go out with my moisturiser. It absorbs into the skin really nicely and doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin at all!
Rekindle Your Nintendo Love
When I was younger I used to sit on my DSi for hours playing the likes of Nintendogs & MySims. Hours of fun were had so I decided to get out my Nintendo again! I’ve still got so many games like Mario Karts, Nintendogs and ArtAcademy. Needless to say, when I went on Nintendogs my doggos were very hungry! Who else used to love picochat?!
Let me know what you’re getting up to if you’re not in work or self-isolating!

i love the idea of picking up my camera! on the one hand it seems like it’s all really boring, but then in five years i’ll love to be able to look back and have memories of moments i wouldn’t have remembered… if that makes sense! lol. definitely will be getting my camera out later today 🙂

This is a really weird time for me! I work from home anyway so I’m not really having to change too much but it’s so disorientating to see what’s going on around me and the changes having my mum work from home too. I’ve enrolled in a few online courses to help me pass the time on evenings and weekends etc. I can see The SIms taking over my life soon… x

Okay I love these ideas! (Also the pics you took were fab!) I’ve bought the new animal crossing and stacked up on Sims expansion packs, so I think games will largely be getting me through xx

Great ideas! Personally I’ve been catching up on a lot of Netflix and reading, but now I’m so tempted to give the old DS a go! It would feel super nostalgic! X

Love this post, and some much needed inspiration. You’re so right about it being the perfect time to try new products – if something makes my skin go crazy, the lack of audience means it not such a big deal!

Honestly, I’m pretty sick of hearing about it everywhere too! I love that you’re using the time to pursue creative things that we don’t usually give ourselves the time to enjoy. Go you!

Hope you’re doing okay. I also picked up my old DS, but I fell back in love with Animal Crossing so much that I ended up ordering a Switch Lite so I could play the new version lol! x

It’s SO all-consuming all of this, isn’t it? I really want to start a new hobby but I’m really not sure what now that going out to classes and things isn’t an option! I’ve been having a bit of a blogging break but I’m back at it this month so I think that’ll definitely help my routine and mental health! Hope you’re keeping well! xxx
