A while ago in Superdrug, I came across some tanning drops for your face. I’m actually quite pale to the point I get asked daily if I’m ok because I look so pale, so I’m always striving for something to give me a little bit of a healthy glow. Considering I’ve never dabbled in fake tanning for the pure fact I will come out orange I thought I’d give these tanning drops by Tanologist a try! They were a little pricey at £14.99 but I think it’d definitely last you a while.
It recommends you mix 1-12 drops into a moisturiser, the more drops the deeper the tan. It doesn’t actually give any real or clear instructions so I just put some of my Dermalogica moisturiser onto the back of my hand and mixed about 5 drops into it. I did take extra care to make sure that it was evenly spread out onto my face because I’d hate to go streaky. At first, it felt like it was tingling/stinging but that stopped after about 5 minutes but my face did look oily for the rest of the night so I recommend using it at night so it has time to develop.
The tan does come in 3 shades (light, medium, dark) and costs £14.99 which I suppose is kind of like a midpoint for tanning products on the market. Tanologist have quite a big range in Superdrug and sell other tanning products like tanning mousse and tanning water (??).
The little dropper is really handy with precise drops so you can control how deep you want your tan but I think, in my opinion, it should come with something to mix it into your moisturiser as it was quite hard knowing if it was evenly distributed. I washed my hands thoroughly after this but it did have a biscuit after smell which a lot of tanning products do.
After waking up the next morning I was a bit shocked. Overall I definitely had a healthy glow without looking oily but my god… I had a streaky, orange nose and odd deep orange patches on my face. I don’t know whether I’d applied this wrong because there weren’t any clear instructions or i was just dumb and a newbie to tanning but I was so disappointed. Thank god I had a week off work because it just kept developing darker and darker throughout the day.
If I hadn’t have turned patchy then this would’ve been the perfect product. I’ve got really sensitive skin and can only use certain products on my face without it becoming dry and sore but this didn’t affect it all. I think a bit more practice is needed and maybe less tanning drops next time!
Have you ever tried this or anything else from Tanologist? Let me know how you got on with them!

Oh there’s nothing worse than a patchy tan, especially on the face as you end up looking patchy for days. I love the idea of drops, but they’ve never delivered on the claims xo

I always end up with a bad look with fake tan because I’m so pale so I completely understand the problem you have! Hopefully it will fade and wash off before you need to see people! The idea of the product sounds fab though, adding it to your usual moisturiser sounds easy.

I like to tan, I currently use the bindi sands liquid gold that you don’t need to wash off! (Game changer!) but I haven’t heard of tanning face drops before. Rightly or wrongly I use the same tan for my face. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Sorry to hear it didn’t go to plan. X

I’ve never been brave enough to try a fake tan, I always think it will go wrong! It’s a shame this went patchy for you, but thanks for sharing your honest review. Fingers crossed it works better for you next time, if you try again 🙂 Love your photos too! ❤ xx

Oh dear!! Such a shame that it went patchy… I am awful at tanning, and even if I do I just end up leaving my face pale haha xx

Less is more hun! Exfoliate well, hydrate and then apply product sparingly. You can build up over a few days so start early enough. The idea of these drops appeal to me as I am right now pale as can be xxx
