I saw this blog post idea from the amazing Sophie at Glowsteady where she looked back and reflected on the things she’d previously reviewed on her blog, seeing whether or not she still used them. It really inspired me to do a version because I’ve reviewed quite a lot of makeup products on my blog and actually wanted to see whether or not I still use them!
REVOLUTION FAST BASE FOUNDATION
This was hyped about quite a lot, like a lot of new Revolution releases. I reviewed this in April (wow, times flies) and initially thought it was slightly too pink toned for me and although I found it hard to blend I did say I’d use it again. I actually haven’t. I think I just couldn’t get on with it being in stick form and in the review, I did say it clung to my dry skin so trying it now that it’s nearly winter probably isn’t a good idea. I was slightly disappointed with it at the time I reviewed it due to it not being the perfect shade but I do wish I’d have tried it in the summer but truth be told it got pushed to the back of my makeup collection. For the reason that I just kind of forgot about this, I’d give it a rating of ★★.
KAT VON D METAL CRUSH HIGHLIGHTER
If you read the review for this highlighter which I got in June, then you’ll know that I loved it when I initially tried it out. It’s safe to say that it’s my go-to highlighter even though you’d expect it to be something you don’t wear on an everyday basis. It’s very glittery and quite glam but that doesn’t stop me wearing it every single day. I love the glitteryness of it and I don’t think I’ll be able to get over how pretty it is! My star rating for this would be ★★★★★.
PS… INSTA GIRL LIQUID LIPSTICK
These little Primark liquid lipsticks actually got a lot of use out of them, especially the shade it girl. I reviewed these in October 2017 (over a year ago) and I went through a 3 months phase where I’d wear these lipsticks every day because I loved them so much. The shades were a little more out there and I really got along well with these. I haven’t used them in a while because I think they’ve gone off/out of date now but for £2 you don’t really expect them to last a year! Overall these definitely got good use out of them and I’d give a star rating of ★★★★. Also, please can we appreciate how my photography has got better over the year!
So that’s some of the products I’ve reviewed and the verdict on whether or not I still use them! I think as bloggers we sometimes feel the need to go and buy the newest BarryM lipsticks or the highly anticipated Urban Decay palette that we don’t actually think whether we will use it or whether we just want the content! I feel as though I 100% think about whether or not I’ll actually use a product before buying it to review on my blog.
Are there any products you’ve ever bought and reviewed on your blog and then never used again? I’d love to know!

Thanks for the mention! I never use my Revolution stick either. I don’t really know why I’m just not a huge fan of how it looks on the skin. Those Primark liquid lips sound amazing for the price!! x

There are a few items that I reviewed on my blog and haven’t reached for since. The latest one is the BH Cosmetics Royal Affair palette. But I talked about why I won’t really be reaching for it much.
I just have so much makeup that I forget to reach for something that I have already used and reviewed. But I like this post because I like actively thinking about what you already have and what you need to pay attention to before you go buy something new!

This is such an awesome idea, it’s great to see a post showing whether you have used stuff you’ve talked about because people take recommendations from bloggers so it’s njce to see if you use what you recommend. Great post!

I always end up wanting makeup that I know that I definitely do not need, an example being the Urban Decay Naked Cherry Palette. Have to agree on Primark lipsticks, they are surprisingly good!

This is such an interesting idea for a post – I might have to copy you and Sophie, and make one of my own! That highlighter looks soooo gorgeous 😍 I refuse to let myself buy any more highlighters, though, until I’ve at least finished a couple of the ones I have just now 😂
