If I could do crazy SFX makeup and make it look like my face was cut in half then you’d be inundated with tutorials. Since i’m not talented enough for that I thought i’d bring to you a makeup look which anyone can do! This post is a collab with my blogging bestie Beth so go and give her a follow and see what kind of look she created!
If you don’t want to go all out this halloween, or just don’t know what kind of makeup look to go for, then my absolute go to is dark lips and a bit of red eyeshadow. You can’t really go wrong with a fancy, glam look.
For the eyes of course I always start with the MUA Pro Base eye primer no matter how basic the eye look is going to be. It’s the perfect base for the eyes and the perfect companion to eyeshadow staying longer. The eyeshadow palette I used is the Revolution x Soph Extra Spice palette which is a new in for me. Since my eyelids were prepped with the primer I put the smallest amount of the shade cookie dough on the lids so that I wasn’t starting to build up colour on a very pale eyelid.
Once the base of the eyes is done, I used a fluffy blending brush and took the really bright red shade Twenty One into the crease and just kept building so it was a really bright shade. I also took this slightly into the outer corner of the eye to add that ‘transition’. This palette is becoming one of my favourite palettes of all time. All of the shades are really pigmented and you can create so many different looks with it.
Since this is a glam look we can’t call it glam without glitter right? Using the BarryM Glitter Glue with the Glitter Rush glitter in the shade Moonstone, I covered my lid in glitter! I’ve done this look a few times for various occasions and I think it always looks super cute. If you don’t have glitter or didn’t want it to be too over the top, the shade Infinity in the Soph palette would be perfect.
In terms of mascara I used the Too Faced Better Than Sex along with the Tarte Amazonian Smart Mascara after a failed attempt at fake lashes. I do think some thick lashes would’ve made the look 10 times better but for some reason Primark eyelashes wouldn’t stick!
After the eyes were done, which I always do first, I did my face makeup. I ended up using my mom’s Rimmel London Insta CC Green Primer and tried out for the second time the Revolution conceal & Define foundation. In the blog post where I reviewed it here I really didn’t get on well with it but after using the primer I think it went on so much better so here’s to second chances! I also used the Revolution Conceal & Define concealer, Seventeen Define & Conquer contour kit and for highlight I used one I got in a giveaway which is the P.S Mermaid Glow which is a gorgeous glittery white/silver shade.
The final part of the look is of course the lipstick which is the Sleek Matte Me lip cream in the shade Old Hollywood (the sticker has come off the tube but from looking online i’m pretty sure that is the right shade). I never, ever normally go this dark in lip colour but I think it makes the look a lot more suitable for halloween!
I love how the look turned out SO much and i’m super proud of it. I also just wanted to point out that the rose headband is from Hobbycraft for £2 and the hoops were from Claire’s in the sale.
What are you going to go as for Halloween this year? Don’t forget to see how Beth’s makeup look turned out!

I think this post is a great idea! Not everyone likes going all SFX make-up extra for halloween and sometimes people also don’t have the time! So a halloween glam tutorial like this is F A B! and Dayummm that eyeshadow is dreamy! need to get my hands on one of them! Great Post!

I like this make up look it is not too dramatic. Very subtle but still effective. I love that dark lippy on you babe it looks amazing.
This make up was different but I prefer it tbh, sfx is a bit long winded anyway.
Great post

This look is so pretty – it’s perfect for Halloween! I love the glitter you have added to the look 🙂 can never go wrong with some sparkle! That palette looks so pretty too in the picture – it’s got such gorgeous shades in it. Also, I can’t believe that headband was only £2. Would have expected it to be so much more!
