If you’re anything like me then you’ll understand the struggle of broadening your eyeshadow colours from the typical brown nude shades to bright blue. It sounds daunting and quite possibly scary but sometimes you just have to go for it and experiment a little, that was my logic behind happily spending £6.99 on the Mermaids Heart Eyeshadow Palette by I Heart Revolution.
To be quite honest, I didn’t know where to start with this palette or what colours worked well together. All of the shades are really pigmented and absolutely stunning but I decided to go for a blue crease and gold shimmer look in the hopes it would look half decent. It turned out to be a very out there look but I think the shades go together really well!
To start off the look I took the base shade all over the lid with a flat eyeshadow brush. I always tend to do a light shade all over the base to just give myself a fresh canvas to start adding colour. On a small fluffy brush, I mixed the two shimmery blues and started working that into the crease and a little bit onto the outer corner. I just built that up until I was happy with the blueness, it didn’t take long for it to be really pigmented.
I picked the gorgeous gold shimmer shade as the main eyelid colour as a contrast from the blue and I applied it pretty much all over the lid but not so much in the outer corner, I used a flat brush to do this. I followed this with the matte blue in the outer corner on the same brush that I used for the shimmery blues in the crease so that it didn’t pack on as harshly as the gold shimmer.
I’m no makeup professional so I pretty much winged this as I went along and kind of didn’t like how it looked. I think fake eyelashes would’ve made it look better or winged liner but I can’t do eyeliner to save my life. After much deliberation I used the matte blue and put some on the inner corner too and it looked a lot better. Some more blending later, mascara, a full face and Birthday Suit liquid lipstick by Sleek I was happy with the look.
This 100% isn’t an everyday look for me but I think it’s super gorgeous. I’ve done a few makeup looks on my blog before such as Purple inspired Makeup Look and Sunset makeup look! and I think I might start doing more!
