Gran Canaria 2018!

I’m back! I’ve only been gone for a week but i’ve missed blogging and writing SO much, it’s crazy. As promised, i’m going to compile a little travel diary of my holiday to Gran Canaria and share all of the photos I took, so I hope you enjoy!

We went for a week, flying from Birmingham with TUI and it took about 4 hours. I don’t particularly like flights that long but after being to Cyprus and a few times I kind of am used to it! We stayed in Maspalomas/Playa Del Ingles at the hotel called Abora Catarina in an adult only section which meant we were on the top floor and it was nice and quiet!

We stayed all inclusive like we do every year and there were loads of self-service drink machines and food bars to help yourself, and a 24hr snack and drink area! The hotel was lovely and the first half of the week it wasn’t too busy- although nearer the end of the week it was a lot busier because of children finishing school for the summer.

The most impressive part of the hotel (or more so location) was that it was 5 minute walk to the famous sand dunes which resembles something like the Sahara desert in Africa. The were so picturesque and beautiful, 100% worth taking a trip to them.

The view (and the sunset) from our balcony was stunning too, nothing better than waking up to see palm trees and sun!

Although we did do a lot of sun-bathing, drinking cocktails and lounging about we took a trip on the bus to Puerto de Mogan, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria for shopping and an incredible aquarium called Poema del mar. I love relaxing by the pool but it’s also nice to get out and see the sights of a beautiful country/island.

My favourite part of the holiday was the aquarium, it was unlike any sea-life centre in the UK and I was shocked at the amazing panoramic viewing room!

It was such a nice, relaxing get away trip for me and my Mom and I enjoyed it so much, so did she! But it is nice to get home, sleep in my own bed and get back to everyday life!

Any idea on where you’d like to head next?

  3. The sand dunes look absolutely stunning! At first I thought it was a real desert. And the houses on the hills kind of remind me of the Gamcheon Cultural Village in Busan, South Korea 😀
